Sandro Pereira on NetPonto Community

On last Saturday 24th, another NetPonto gathering took place in Lisboa. Sandro Pereira was invited to share his experience in a session dedicated to message transformations in EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) and B2B (Business-to-Business) scenarios using Biztalk.

BizTalk Mapper Designer, an Integrated Development Environment, was the main course for the session and attendees had a change to learn how this enables the design and maintenance complex rules in structured electronic messages.

This session was designed to help fellow developers understand why and how this platform was designed, explaining some of its principles and basic functionality: what can we do with them, where we can use them and how they work internally.

Also this event included interventions of several community members and some other Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals.

Pedro Lamas on Windows Phone 7 “Mango” Developer Hub

Next June 29th will take place at Tagus Park (Lisbon) the Windows Phone 7 “Mango” Developer Hub. It´ll be the first Microsoft Portugal event, totally dedicated to the new Windows Phone version.

The program counts with a wide range of speakers, among these, Pedro Lamas, Software Developer Engineer, with the mission to close the event with a session on the new API’s interface with a Windows Phone camera and several sensor devices (for example: accelerometer, digital compass or gyroscope when available).

Codenamed “Mango” is expected to be released to customers later in 2011, besides it was selected as the platform for new handset manufacturers like Nokia.

Pedro Lamas on Mobile Development Best Practices

On last Saturday 28^th, the 3rd PocketPT gathering took place in Lisboa. Pedro Lamas was there as a speaker with an session on MVVM, named “Demystifying MVVM”.

The Model View ViewModel (MVVM) is a software development architecture pattern for modern user interface platforms. This design pattern is particularly useful when building Silverlight applications on Windows Phone 7. Among the many advantages, it allows an easier way for testing and a much better scalability and maintenance for complex applications.

Also on this event, the “star” was the upcoming version of Windows Phone “Mango” that will be available later this year. Many of the participants had an opportunity to interact with a real device of the next generation phones.
